Lately, on my gay blogs that I follow, there has been a lot of controversy about Cynthia Nixon. All the blogs are basically saying that she said she “chose to be gay” or something, but that’s a really simplistic viewpoint. And this shit has been pissing me off because I totally agree with her. The arguments about being gay need to advance. We’ve used this whole “it isn’t a choice” thing because it’s easy, but we need to push the argument further: it doesn’t fucking matter if it’s a choice or not. Being gay is not bad whether someone chooses it or not.
And don’t get me started about the people saying she said this because “female sexuality is more fluid.”
